I was surfing and came across a budegtting type of web site owned by an indivudual. I was sad to see this person buys Halloween gifts for people. On one hand this person seems generous and sweet natured---- on the other I have never heard of such a waste of money.
Am I wrong in my thinking? To be honest here...my kids and I have never really celebrated Halloween or done trick or treating.
Another side bar...my kids I would consider are normal average kids and not weirdos or strange. We just skip this Hoilday. Are we going to have to have to put up the Halloween tree soon or hang our Halloween stockings over the fireplace? I guess I am wondering about this. Then again maybe like any other Holiday some people go nuts...over spend and get into more debt. I guess people have choices as well....it is a free country the last time I checked.

However, I think that... if people take joy in giving to others, and if it's done within budget, I guess I'm OK with it. I'm not saying I'd do such a thing anytime soon, but... at least it's not my money, ya know?

I totally see how some people don't get it though (I don't get the V-day thing and think that is a waste of money). But remember: what is a waste of money to you is a perfecly legit reason to spend for another.

Thank you!!!
I thought of sweetest day coming up.
I will not be buying my kids gifts...but I may bake a wonderful afterschool treat. I mean it is not a big deal to me. Now ,come to think of it my kids would be sad if I forgot Valentine's Day......I always buy candy and make little treat bags for them which they love. I guess we need to pick and choose our Holidays as we like....and try to stay in our budgets. Have a good weekend everyone!!! So SO GLAD it is Friday!!!!!!!

by the way I picked up a neat book at a thrift store not too long ago about wedding traditions and where they originated. It is very fascinating to say the least. I chuckled at some the reasons why we do things in regards to weddings. I know in my ex's family I was frowned upon when I asked to do a Holiday in a different way that would make things more economical and easier on everyone's time....you would of thought I asked if we could leave great Grandma standing outside in the corn field without a coat out in the winter storm we were having. Do not mess with traditions was the message I got LOUD and CLEAR! Speaking of my ex's great grandma she is so thrifty. One year for Christmas she told the entire family all she wanted for Christmas was Kleenex. Well she got it. About 50 boxes of it . She was thrilled and tickled pink to get such practical gifts. It is a memory of thrift I will cherish!
